Practitioner Engagement Working Group

Chair: Sacha Jellinek (sacha.jellinek@gmail.com)

Working group members:

  • Michelle Evans
  • Alexi Williams
  • Lincoln Kern
  • Gail Spina

Purpose:

The Practitioner Engagement Working Group aim is to develop strategies to enhance practitioner engagement with the Society and to develop programs and initiatives that will assist ecological practitioners to undertake their professional roles. In 2014 members were surveyed in part to determine how the ESA can further enhance national ecological practitioner engagement.  Results from this survey clearly highlighted that members would be interested in finding out what other Australian Ecologists are working on and facilitating greater discussion/linkages among ecologists via online forums and face to face meetings.  The ESA is therefore committing funds to initiate an Ecological Practitioner Engagement Committee (EPEC) and activities which will enable Ecologists across the country to engage through symposia and other activities.

A invitation to members to join the working group and assist in progressing this strategy was distributed earlier in 2017 – a copy of the proposal is available below. Since then the Chair of the Working Group has become vacant and ESA is now looking for someone to take on this role and drive this critical strategic initiative.
