The ESA's annaul photography competition aims to highlight the diversity, beauty and interest of the biodiversity and ecosystems of Australia, and the role of ecologists in unravelling their mysteries.
Prizes include $500 for best overall image, $400 for best overall portfolio, and awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category.
The categories are:
- Out Standing in the Field: Ecologists in Action
- Niches & Hollows: Adaptive Behaviour and Biodiversity (with awards in 2 subcategories for Animals or Plants/Fungi)
- Beneath Southern Skies: Unique Australian Landscapes
- Sent from my Mobile: Mobile Phone Photography
Images must either be taken in Australia or its territories or illustrate the work that Australian ecologists are undertaking in other countries.
Winners and shortlisted entries will be announced and exhibited at the ESA’s annual conference in Launceston this November.
Entries now open and close at midnight Monday 14 October.
