Financial assistance available for ESA2020 attendees

With ESA2020 moving online this year, we will be adapting a couple of our usual grants to suit the new, virtual format.

>> Financial hardship assistance, in the form of free conference registration, will be offered in lieu of travel grants. This will include two categories – one for ESA members and one for ecologists from developing countries.

To be eligible you must:

  • Be a current financial ESA member OR be a resident of an OECD-listed Developing Nation.
  • Be participating in ESA2020 as a registered delegate.

>> Childcare grants will be broadened to help delegates with young children participate in the conference program. A $AUD100 grant will be available to assist with additional daycare or babysitting costs or to cover lost wages of a chosen carer (e.g. partner, grandparents, friend) during the conference period. There will also be a limited number of ‘last minute’ childcare grants reserved for ESA members who are presenting and may need emergency or unexpected childcare during the conference. Only one childcare grant is available per family.

To be eligible you must:

  • Be a current financial ESA member.
  • Be participating in ESA2020 as a registered delegate.
  • Have childcare needs for children aged 10 or under.

Funding for all categories is limited and will be awarded to eligible applicants at the discretion of ESA until funding is exhausted. So, apply early!
